Recently a relative has been diagnosed as having contracted Staph. This strain is particularly agressive, since it is the antibiotic resistant strain. Ladies & gentlemen (I resisted ladies & germs), please realize that staph infections have skyrocketed in the last few years, even in hospital settings. Staph can be localized, such as a boil or a sore, or it can be systemic, getting into the blood stream, vital organs, even bone marrow (goodbye immune system). Hand washing is the first and best defense against spreading the infection. Cleaning common surfaces is another must. If you share keyboards, doorknobs, counter space, etc. with others, please please please disinfect them daily. Not that I'm a fan of OCD's, but believe me, you don't want you or your loved ones contracting staph. It would at least involve time in the hospital, surgery, and yes, could very well kill you!
